LA-Más, Backyard Homes Project, models to engage homeowners. From Bryony Roberts, guest editor of "Log 48: Expanding Modes of Practice."

Log is the premiere independent American journal of writing on architecture and the contemporary city. Presenting criticism and commentary in a literary format, Log allows for a meaningful exchange of ideas and concerns in architectural thinking and practice today. With each issue being a collection of critical essays, interviews, and brief observations on current events, Log provides a platform for broad-reaching discussions among architects, designers, planners, scholars, artists, and others who are passionate about architecture and its roles and responsibilities in shaping contemporary culture. The upcoming issues are: Log 47: Overcoming Carbon Form, guest edited by Elisa Iturbe; Log 48: Expanding Modes of Practice, guest edited by Bryony Roberts; and Log 49: an open issue.

Cynthia Davidson is executive director of the Anyone Corporation and editor of the international architecture journal Log, which she founded in 2003, the former ANY magazine (1993–2000), and Inland Architect (Chicago, 1983–90). She is responsible for more than 40 books in print, including two for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, and 23 in the Writing Architecture series published by MIT Press. She cocurated The Architectural Imagination for the US Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale; started the pop-up Anyspace exhibitions in New York in 2017, and has hosted a number of cross-cultural multidisciplinary conferences on architecture at venues around the globe, from Seoul to Ankara, Buenos Aires to Rotterdam. She was recognized by The American Academy of Arts and Letters with its Architecture Award in 2014.

Project collaborators range from the Log staff (managing editor Patrick Templeton, originally from Arkansas, and editorial student intern) to the many individuals whose work appears in the magazine's pages. There are generally between 15 and 18 authors and several photographers in each issue. Log's protagonists, who serve as advisors to the editor, include: Thomas Daniell, architect, writer, and teacher in Kyoto; Sanford Kwinter, teacher, writer, and theorist in New York; Julie Rose, writer and translator in Sydney; Sarah Whiting, architect and architectural educator in Cambridge, and Manuel Orazi, architectural historian, teacher, and editor in Bologna.

Log 47 guest editor Elisa Iturbe is an architectural designer and visiting professor at The Cooper Union Irwin S. Chanin's School of Architecture. Her research focuses on the link between carbon energy, capitalism, and the city. In addition to studio, she teaches a course called The City & Carbon Modernity. She received a double master's from the Yale University School of Architecture and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She has also taught at Yale University and is the founder and principal of design and research firm, Outside Development.

Log 48 guest editor Bryony Roberts leads the design and research practice Bryony Roberts Studio, which integrates methods from architecture, art, and social practice to respond to complex cultural sites. She received the Architectural League Prize, the Rome Prize, the Miller Prize, and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Graham Foundation, and the MacDowell Colony. She published her research in the Harvard Design Magazine, Log, Future Anterior, and Architectural Record, coedited Log 31: New Ancients, and edited Tabula Plena: Forms of Urban Preservation, published by Lars Müller Publishers.

Anyone Corporation was founded in 1990 to advance the knowledge and understanding of architecture and its relationships to the general culture through conferences, public seminars, exhibitions, and publications.
