Space.City presents Latin Catalyst: CDMX Mexico Works, a public lecture series at the Seattle Public Library featuring leading creative figures from Mexico City whose work intersects with architecture. The program expands beyond architecture to include perspectives from visual art, photography, history, and craft, highlighting the breadth of design culture in Mexico City. Each speaker delivers a public talk followed by a reception and related programming, including book signings and published interviews. Events are recorded and made freely available online, extending access to broader audiences. The series builds on Space.City’s longstanding role in introducing new voices to Seattle while strengthening connections with partner institutions and design schools across the United States.

Grant Gustafson founded Space.City in 1997 after recognizing, along with others, a need to examine and challenge the established contours of Seattle’s design disciplines, namely architecture, urbanism, and graphic design. Gustafson holds an master's in architecture from Montana State University and apprenticed with Bruce Goff in Tyler, Texas, where he created one of the drawings exhibited in the Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibition Bruce Goff: Material Worlds in 2026. Many years after Goff’s death, Gustafson devoted two years to leading the successful effort to bury Goff in Graceland Cemetery. After a thirty-three-year career as a leading architect at NBBJ, Gustafson retired in 2024. Prior to NBBJ, he worked with Koetter Kim in Boston, Olson Walker in Seattle, and his father, architect Wayne Gustafson in Billings, Montana. Gustafson now assists Peter Miller Design Books and helps mentor the board of Space.City.

Space.City is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the discussion of art, architecture, design, and urbanism. Since its formation in 1997, Space.City has presented more than 110 lectures by artists, designers, and architects whose ideas and contributions cover the spectrum of creative and innovative thinking today.
